Description

Objective:

The course objective is to provide the participant with basic skills and tools needed to perform effectively as a leader in the fire service environment focusing on their personal success.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Identify the five steps of the creative process and ways to foster creativity in subordinates
  • Identify the types, sources and limits of power
  • Differentiate between use and abuse of different types of power
  • Explain how influencing and networking can complement and enhance one's power base
  • Demonstrate decision making involving ethical practices
  • Prepare a personal role-set analysis
  • Identify four levels of accountability
  • Identify possible sources of role conflict for the Company Officer (CO) and develop strategies to resolve them
  • Recognize the importance of the CO serving as a role model for subordinates
  • Define and identify the importance of creativity and innovation in fire/emergency medical services organizations

  • Develop strategies to enhance creative leadership traits
