Description

Objective:

To provide the student with an appreciation of the pharmacy technician as part of a pharmacy health care team and the development of present day pharmacy practice settings. Students gain the broad knowledge of the pharmacy practice, the skills required to order stock, and how to pack and prepare medications.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations, drug administration and preparation
  • Recall the history of pharmacy
  • Discuss the pharmacy profession and the settings in which it operates
  • Utilize inventory management skills while satisfying drug regulations

  • Pharmacy and health care, drug regulations, terminology, calculations, routes, formulation, parenteral, sterile formulation, compounding, basic biopharmaceuticals, factors affecting drug activity, inventory management, financial issues, community and hospital pharmacies, and common drugs and their uses
