Description

Objective:

The course objective is to focus on advanced topics in diagnostic coding using ICD-10-CM and inpatient procedural coding using ICD-10-PCS. The course concentrates on official coding guidelines, sequencing skills, and use of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS in healthcare reimbursement as well as prospective payment system theory and methodology. The course includes practice in coding and optimization techniques using case studies, health records, and computerized coding and grouping software. Students apply advanced coding rules for ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS.
