Description

Objective:

The course objective is to examine professional issues, the role of agencies and associations that support and regulate occupational therapy practice, and advocacy roles of the OTA.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Identify strategies for effective, competency-based legal and ethical supervision of non-professional personnel
  • Using a professional self-analysis tool, develop a professional development plan in preparation for participation in Level II fieldwork
  • Role play interprofessional scenarios in order to clarify members' responsibilities in intervention planning
  • Interpret and articulate when and how to apply professional ethics for decision making in a variety of practice contexts and interactions
  • Analyze scholarly works and interpret and apply to practice
  • Articulate the importance of professional advocacy
  • Demonstrate ability to participate in the development, marketing, and management of service delivery options
  • Explain how various practice settings impact the delivery of occupational therapy services
  • Describe how telehealth and virtual technology can support participation, health, and well-being
  • Articulate processes used in resolving personal and organizational ethical dilemmas
