Description

Objective:

The course objective is to provide knowledge of the major elements of community-based service learning needed to successfully participate in and complete community service projects

Learning Outcomes:

  • describe the four components of the PARC service learning model - preparation, action, reflection, and celebration
  • determine what can be done individually and collectively to ensure learning takes place during community service projects
  • develop and take part in reflection activities that enhance critical thinking skills through the examination of service and community needs being met
  • apply the service learning component of each community service project ensuring that appropriate activities are successfully completed as part of project implementation.
  • explain community-based service learning and its integration into community service projects
