Description

Objective:

The course objective is to examine the effects of disease on the physiological mechanisms of the human body.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Articulate a basic understanding of the main diseases of selected systems of the human body, examine the concepts of basic epidemiology, and review the many approaches to prevention and treatment of various diseases

General Topics:

  • An overview of the following systems and the major pathologies of each system: cell biology, cellular injury and neoplasia, host defense and hematology, the cardiovascular system, the respiratory system, the kidneys, fluids and electrolytes and acid/base balance, neurology, the muscular system, and the gastrointestinal, endocrine, and reproductive systems
