Objective:

To provide a broad overview of the field of sociology and discuss how the sociological perspective can usefully be applied to the study of social life.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Describe the relationships between individuals and their societies
  • List the social dynamics that can facilitate change in a society
  • Discuss the processes, institutions, and groups that compose the sociological perspective
  • Apply the scientific method to develop and broaden the understanding of how societies operate
