Description

Objective:

The course objective is to ensure the student obtains the skills necessary to apply and implement technical knowledge of security concepts in today's security environment. This course will prepare students for the SY0-401 CompTIA Security+ Certification exam.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Identify social engineering attacks, malware, software-based, and network-based threats, and wireless and physical threats and vulnerabilities
  • Manage data, application, device and host, and mobile security
  • Configure security parameters on network devices and technologies, identify network design elements and components, implement network protocols, apply secure network administration principles, and secure wireless traffic
  • Install a CA hierarchy, enroll certificates for entities, secure network traffic using certificates, renew certificates, backup and restore certificates and private keys, and revoke certificates
  • Analyze risk, implement vulnerability assessment tools and techniques, scan for vulnerabilities, and identify mitigation and deterrent techniques
  • Respond to security incidents and recover from a security incident
  • Identify the basic components of the information security cycle, information security controls, fundamental components of cryptography and fundamental security policy issues and list common authentication methods
  • Implement access control, common authentication services, and account management security controls
  • Describe physical security issues and principles, legal compliance issues and principles, identify security awareness and training requirements, and integrate systems and data with third parties
  • Describe business continuity, plan for disaster recovery, and execute DRPs and procedures
