Description

Objective:

The course objective is to explore business management fundamentals, including topics such as coaching for the competitive advantage and creating one's own management style. At the end of this eight-week course, students will have the comprehensive knowledge needed to manage a team, modify employee behavior, appropriately approach and deal with change in the workplace, as well as mitigate and overcome workplace conflict through effective negotiations and communications.

  • Describe how supervisors can manage for results
  • Discuss the legal aspects of business and key legal issues that affect businesses
  • Determine how to resolve conflicts
  • And develop strategies to become an instrument of change while dealing with its issues and implications.
  • Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to identify the responsibilities of leadership
  • Examine the characteristics and traits of admired leaders
  • Explain how to manage different personality types

  • Responsibilities as a leader and manager in dealing with the people-side of an organization
  • Critical human resource issues that managers undertake when dealing with employees
  • Performance management and a variety of issues, including managing employee metrics, goal-setting, and motivation
  • Effective new skills on how to resolve conflict
