Description

Objective:

The course objective is to give the student an overview of the financial management structure of the federal government with emphasis on the Department of Defense (DoD).

Learning Outcomes:

  • Demonstrate the process used by the federal government to develop its federal budget requests and the objectives of the budget
  • After budget formulation, know how the DoD/Army justifies its budget requests to the Office of Manpower and Budget (OMB) and the United States Congress
  • Identify key financial managers and agencies within the Defense Department and understand their roles in the formulation of the defense budget request
