Description

Objective:

The course objective is to develop a structural knowledge of set theory, probability theory, multiple random variables, expectations, probability density and distribution functions that are essential in the modeling of a variety of theoretical and applied exercises.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Construct and interpret sample spaces
  • Calculate expected value, moments, and determine moment generating functions
  • Apply the Central Limit Theorem appropriately
  • Construct and analyze probability models
  • Construct and analyze single and multiple random variables
  • Construct and analyze discrete and continuous probability distributions
  • Give a thought experiment in an operational scenario based on a mathematically defined sample space and probability model

General Topics:

  • Probability foundations, multivariate distributions, expectations, moments, special distributions, and sampling distributions
