Based in San Francisco, the company is a subsidiary of PG&E Corporation and regulated by the California Public Utilities Commission. There are approximately 20,000 employees who carry out Pacific Gas and Electric Company's primary business: the transmission and delivery of energy. The company provides natural gas and electric service to approximately 15 million people throughout a 70,000-square-mile service area in northern and central California. Its mission is to create safe, reliable and affordable service for its customers.PG&E offers formalized, state-certified apprenticeship training programs for 29 job classifications, which can last anywhere from 18 to 42 months. Apprenticeship training programs provide specialized on-the-job training and related academic training to eligible union-represented employees who wish to become certified in a particular trade. All job-related instruction is taught at PG&E by subject matter experts. The Joint Apprenticeship & Training Committee (JATC) is responsible for the oversight of our apprenticeship programs.
