Pacific Gas and Electric Company, incorporated in California in 1905, is one of the largest combination natural gas and electric utilities in the United States. Based in San Francisco, the company is a subsidiary of PG&E Corporation and regulated by the California Public Utilities Commission. There are approximately 20,000 employees who carry out Pacific Gas and Electric Company's primary business: the transmission and delivery of energy. The company provides natural gas and electric service to approximately 15 million people throughout a 70,000-square-mile service area in northern and central California. Its mission is to create safe, reliable and affordable service for its customers.PG&E offers formalized, state-certified apprenticeship training programs for 29 job classifications, which can last anywhere from 18 to 42 months. Apprenticeship training programs provide specialized on-the-job training and related academic training to eligible union-represented employees who wish to become certified in a particular trade. All job-related instruction is taught at PG&E by subject matter experts. The Joint Apprenticeship & Training Committee (JATC) is responsible for the oversight of our apprenticeship programs. Upon completion of an apprenticeship training program, participants will be fully qualified for certification by the state of California.
