Organization

The International Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (IJCAHPO^®) was established as a not-for-profit organization in 1969 to offer certification and continuing education for ophthalmic allied health personnel. Since then, more than 34,000 people in the US, Canada, and around the world have earned IJCAHPO certification. IJCAHPO offers three core levels of certification: Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA); Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT); and Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT).
