Virtual ACE Summit to Tackle Intersection of Race and Crisis Management This June
May 18, 2020

Register now for “Race and Crisis at a Crossroads—A Virtual Summit hosted by ACE and American University" June 22 from 1-3:30 p.m. EDT to hear from researchers and campus leaders about how lessons learned from the 2015-16 racial crisis at the University of Missouri can help higher education institutions navigate the evolving landscape of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The event will include both panel discussions and participatory breakout sessions and is generously supported by EAB, a member of the ACE Thought Leaders Circle. Current and former administrators from the University of Missouri will talk about their experience navigating the campus crisis, and researchers will present the latest findings of a three-year study of the crisis. Looking to the future, scholars and practitioners will consider how institutions can apply these insights as campuses adjust to the new post-COVID-19 landscape and prepare for the fall term and beyond.

Speakers at the summit will include:

  • Fanta Aw, vice president of campus life and inclusive excellence, American University

  • Sharon Fries Britt, professor of higher education, University of Maryland, College Park

  • Mun Y. Choi, president, University of Missouri System
  • NaTashua Davis, interim vice chancellor, Division of Inclusion, Diversity & Equity and executive director of Access and Leadership Development, University of Missouri-Columbia
  • Adrianna Kezar, Wilbur Kieffer endowed professor and dean's professor of leadership, University of Southern California
