Program Type: Summit

Summits are one- to two-day virtual, in-person, or hybrid events centered on a particular theme. They provide insights, practical advice, and collaborative solutions from national and regional experts, leaders, and practitioners. Summit themes address issues and challenges that are broad in scope, require campus-wide approaches, and involve an array of stakeholders.

ACE and American University hosted an interactive learning experience focused on taking action on the intersecting issues of race and crisis management in higher education. The foundation for this experience is a three-year study of the racial crisis that took place at the University of Missouri in 2015-16, and of the resulting lessons learned by the campus community. In the recording, you will hear from researchers and campus leaders about their experiences navigating this crisis, and how they applied lessons learned over the last five years to manage their institutional response to COVID-19.  You will also learn from scholars and practitioners looking forward to consider the evolving landscape of diversity, equity, and inclusion as campuses prepare for the fall term and beyond.
