Organization

The Audioprosthology Educational Program was initiated by the American Conference of Audioprosthology (ACA). The International Hearing Society (IHS) assumed responsibility for the program in 1994. The IHS provides an educational opportunity for those who engage in the hearing instrument dispensing vocation (sales) and ensures that they practice professionally, skillfully, and ethically. Proof of a high school diploma or GED is a prerequisite for enrollment.IHS's educational program contains five courses, structured to conform to a semester-hour format common to universities. The core faculty consists of individuals with extensive knowledge and experience in the academic and/or business world. It is the core faculty's responsibility to teach the courses in the IHS program, make suggestions about the use of outside faculty, and periodically review the curriculum. The faculty is also responsible for curriculum revision in light of new knowledge and methodology.
