Change and Innovation Lab

December 30, 1899

The American Council on Education (ACE) has received a grant from the Lumina Foundation to design and oversee a "Change and Innovation Lab" (CIL) that will engage teams of higher education institutional leaders to envision and define new methods and practices for increasing postsecondary attainment. The CIL will identify concrete steps for broader mobilization of those methods and practices within the teams' institutions.

Using professional facilitators and "design thinking" methods, the CIL will focus on promoting coherent discussion, developing a collective understanding, ultimately supporting the development of robust, concrete, campus based plans for change.

The CIL will lead selected institutions through a planning process focusing on three components of transformational change:

  1. Leadership practices
  2. Faculty engagement
  3. Smart use of data
