ACE President Molly Corbett Broad's Statement on the Gallup-Purdue Index

December 23, 2013

“The American Council on Education strongly supports efforts to measure long-term outcomes of postsecondary education. Our past work in this area has included both public opinion polls and assessments of alumni satisfaction. The Gallup-Purdue Index is a promising new addition in the continuing efforts to advance the understanding of the benefits of higher education. It may provide a useful tool for institutions engaged in quality-improvement efforts. We hope that the index will prove adjustable to adequately measure outcomes and success across a broad array of institutions. It is an effort worthy of further study and discussion.”
