September 19, 2022

Register now to hear from experts and get actionable advice on how to expand traditional notions of accountability

Register for the “Rethinking Accountability in Shared Equity Leadership” webinar on Sept. 29 at 1 p.m. ET. to hear from leading scholars and practitioners who will share insights from the recently released report, Shared Responsibility Means Shared Accountability: Rethinking Accountability Within Shared Equity Leadership. This report is the third in a series of research reports published by ACE in partnership with the University of Southern California’s Pullias Center for Higher Education on Shared Equity Leadership (SEL).

This most recent body of work shows how campuses have expanded traditional notions of accountability when distributing responsibility for diversity, equity, and inclusion. Attendees will learn about common challenges campuses face while determining accountability in practicing SEL, as well as strategies for effectively tracking and measuring progress. Panelists will discuss how they are rethinking accountability both on campus and among stakeholders, boards, and accreditors.

SEL is a leadership approach in which individuals embrace a personal journey toward critical consciousness to become a different type of leader. Collectively, faculty, administrator, and staff leaders work toward embodying new values and enacting a set of practices that form new relationships and understandings. The ultimate goal is to dismantle current systems and structures that inhibit equitable outcomes based on race and other social identities.

Panelists:

  • Derrick Anderson, senior vice president, learning and engagement, ACE (host)
  • Sherri-Ann P. Butterfield, executive vice chancellor, associate professor of sociology, Rutgers University-Newark
  • Cynthia Jackson-Hammond, president, Council for Higher Education Accreditation
  • Adrianna Kezar, Wilbur-Kieffer Professor of Higher Education; dean’s professor of leadership; and director, Pullias Center for Higher Education, University of Southern California (moderator)
  • Raquel Rall, associate professor, School of Education, University of California-Riverside
