Spots Still Available for Three Upcoming ACE Workshops
August 19, 2022

As colleges and universities gear up for the fall semester, ACE is offering three online, multi-part workshops for senior leaders this September. The workshops, Using Human-Centered Design to Optimize Student, Staff, and Faculty Experiences; Motivating Campus Stakeholders through Storytelling; and Translating Equity-Minded Principles into Evaluation Reform, are all led by top experts to provide leaders with strategies, tools and techniques leaders can use on their campuses today.

Using Human-Centered Design to Optimize Student, Staff, and Faculty Experiences, which will meet online September 8, 15, 22, and 28 at 12:00 p.m. ET, will help participants understand the mindsets and methods of human-centered design, use empathy and user experience journey mapping to better understand the actions, thoughts, and feelings of students, staff, and faculty, and plan interventions to optimize their experiences.

The workshop will be facilitated by Rob Brodnick, founder of Sierra Learning Solutions; Alex Johnson, provost emeritus of Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions; and Karyn Zuidinga, founder of NextWave Innovation. You can register for the workshop here.

Led by Robert Krizek, emeritus associate professor at Saint Louis University and managing partner at Communications Resource Associates, the Motivating Campus Stakeholders through Storytelling workshop will engage participants in developing the necessary skills to effectively energize various campus stakeholders through storytelling.

Over two sessions, on Sept. 13 and 27 at 12:00 p.m. ET, participants will develop the skills to craft memorable stories, record themselves telling a story, receive feedback from the facilitator and peers, and plan how they will continue to tell stories back on campus. You can register for the workshop here.

In Translating Equity-Minded Principles into Evaluation Reform, a two-part workshop that will meet Sept. 21 and 29 at 12:00 p.m. ET, participants will become familiar with equity-minded principles and learn how reform in these areas can enhance the recruitment, retention, and advancement of a diverse faculty.

Drawing on two recent ACE reports, Translating Equity-Minded Principles into Faculty Evaluation Reform (PDF) and Equity-Minded Reform of Faculty Evaluation (PDF), the workshop will examine aspects of faculty evaluation policies that need to change, analyzing policy examples from colleges and universities, and help leaders begin to plan reforms that build on them.

The workshop will be facilitated by Dawn Culpepper, faculty specialist at University of Maryland's ADVANCE Program, KerryAnn O'Meara, professor of higher education and distinguished scholar teacher at University of Maryland, and Lindsey Templeton, senior program manager at Higher Education Resource Service. You can register for the workshop here
