“We are deeply saddened that the Trump administration has summarily rejected still another opportunity to assist American students protected by the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy and other Dreamers, in this instance by making them ineligible for emergency financial assistance under the CARES Act.
Individuals protected by DACA have established over and over again their contributions to the country and their willingness to serve in times of crisis. The current moment is no exception, as thousands of DACA recipients work on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. DACA students expect no special dispensation but rather simply ask to be given the same access to emergency aid as their peers. They deserve no less.”
