Speakers and Agenda Announced for 2022 ACE/AIEA Collaborative on Internationalization and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
February 07, 2022

This year’s ACE/AIEA Internationalization Collaborative will focus on “Mobilizing Synergies Between Internationalization and DEI” and will feature discussions of key issues, critical questions, and emerging best practices around this theme.

The event takes place virtually on Feb. 23. There will also be an in-person component for those attending while also at the AIEA conference in New Orleans.

For the past year, campus internationalization and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) leaders have convened in an ACE community of practice to develop actionable strategies and programs that further equity, promote intercultural understanding, and foster belonging in a diverse campus community. The 2022 Collaborative will highlight the initiatives these thought leaders have developed and implemented, explore successes and challenges, and examine tangible outcomes and next steps.

Participants will be able to workshop their own ideas and initiatives and receive feedback and advice from campus executives on strategies for implementation. This work will inform an update to the ACE publication, At Home in the World.

Speakers at the event will be:

  • Fanta Aw, vice president of Undergraduate Enrollment, Campus Life, and Inclusive Excellence, American University
  • Robin Matross Helms, assistant vice president, Programs and Global Initiatives, American Council on Education
  • Mary McConner, vice president for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Christian Brothers University
  • Chrystal George Mwangi, associate professor of higher education, George Mason University
  • Sheila Schulte, associate vice president of international programs, University of North Georgia
  • Jewell Winn, executive director for International Programs and chief diversity officer, Tennessee State University
  • Frank H. Wu, president, Queens College, The City University of New York
