ACE will be releasing a new white paper and tool to help college leaders and faculty development professionals measure return on instructional quality investments at the upcoming Professional and Organizational Development (POD) Network in Higher Education 43rd Annual Conference in Portland, Oregon.
Steven Taylor, director of ACE’s Center for Education Attainment and Innovation, and Sherri Lind Hughes, assistant vice president of ACE Leadership, will discuss both as part of a broader conversation on the enterprise-level perspective on teaching and learning during a session on Nov. 15.
The tool, and the resulting return-on-investment ranges it produces, is designed to help institutional administrators in making decisions about whether, or to what extent, to invest in select teaching improvement efforts on their campuses. It builds on the framework developed in the paper Instructional Quality, Student Outcomes, and Institutional Finances authored by Jessie Brown, formerly an analyst in the Educational Transformation Program at Ithaka S+R, and Martin Kurzweil, the program’s director.
ACE also will release the Center for Teaching and Learning Matrix at the conference, an updated version of the Beta Faculty Development Center Matrix first introduced in 2017.
ACE and ACUE, the Association of College and University Educators, are both sponsors of this year’s POD conference as part of their collective work to advance teaching and learning through faculty and organizational development. ACE’s support includes sponsorship of the plenary session on Nov. 16 featuring ACE member president José Bowen of Goucher College (MD).
