Four ACE2019 Awards Open for Submissions

​The ACE/Fidelity Investments Award for Institutional Transformation, Reginald Wilson Diversity Leadership Award, Donna Shavlik Award, and ACE State Network Leadership Award are now open for nominations and applications. 

Each award will be presented during ACE2019, ACE’s 101st Annual Meeting, March 9–12, 2019, in Philadelphia.

ACE/Fidelity Investments Award for Institutional Transformation

The ACE/Fidelity Investments Award for Institutional Transformation recognizes colleges or universities that, in a period of great change in higher education, have responded to challenges in innovative and creative ways that allow the institution to thrive. ACE invites nominations and applications for the award from any U.S. college or university that is eligible for ACE membership.

The award is split into two categories:

  • Category 1: Institutions with student populations 5,001 and over
  • Category 2: Institutions with student populations up to 5,000

Stevens Institute of Technology and Saint Peter’s University were the recipients of the 2018 Institutional Transformation award and the $10,000 prize. The awards were accepted by Stevens President Nariman Farvardin and Saint Peter’s University President Eugene J. Cornacchia on behalf of their respective institutions.  

Reginald Wilson Diversity Leadership Award

Established to honor Dr. Reginald Wilson, the founding director of the ACE Office of Minority Concerns, this award honors individuals who have demonstrated leadership and commitment on a national level to the advancement of racial and ethnic minorities and other underrepresented populations in higher education.

The 2018 Reginald Wilson Diversity Leadership Award was presented to Janet Napolitano, president of the University of California (UC)​, during the Monday Breakfast Plenary at ACE2018. Accepting the award on Napolitano’s behalf was Yvette Gullat, UC vice provost and chief outreach officer.

Donna Shavlik Award

The Donna Shavlik Award, established by ACE in 1999 to honor the long and outstanding service of Donna Shavlik, past director of ACE’s former Office of Women in Higher Education, honors an individual whose leadership, at colleges and universities or in national positions, has demonstrated a sustained and continuing commitment to the advancement of women through actions or initiatives enhancing women's leadership development, career development, campus climate, and mentoring opportunities of and for women.

At ACE2018, Judith S. White, former president and special advisor of HERS (Higher Education Resource Services), was presented the 2018 Donna Shavlik Award. 

ACE State Network Leadership Award

The ACE State Network Leadership Award for the Advancement of Women in Higher Education recognizes an outstanding and innovative program sponsored by an ACE State Network or by a college or university that helped advance or support women or women's issues in higher education. The award will be presented during the ACE Women's Network Reception at ACE2019.

Last year’s winner was the University of South Carolina’s Women’s Leadership Institute. The award was accepted by Mary Alexander, University of South Carolina assistant provost for Academic Administration and chief of staff.
