Leadership Academy for Department Chairs

Thank you for your interest in the ACE Leadership Academy for Department Chairs. This 2-day workshop focuses on the chair, not only as a unit leader, but also as an academic leader in service to the institution and its mission. Academy participants will engage in case studies, table-top discussions, problem-solving exercises, role play exercises, and simulations on key leadership issues, department success, and contributing to the larger mission of the institution.

Program Site - Moodlerooms

Once payment is received, participants will receive access to the ACE's Moodlerooms program portal - a site where workshop participants can meet each other and serve as a network of expertise. In Moodlerooms, we hope that you will participate in the threaded discussions and exchange best practices in your role as department chair. We also invite you to create your own threaded discussions for topics that you desire feedback and advice.

Fees

Early Bird: ACE Member Institutions: $1,500 | Nonmember Institutions: $1,800 (Early bird ends May 18, 2018)

General Registration: ACE Member Institutions: $1,550 | Nonmember Institutions: $1,850

The fee includes breakfast, lunch and program materials. Registered attendees are responsible for their hotel and travel expenses.

Teams of two or more - ​Team discounts are available for multiple registrations from the same institution. After the first participant registers at full price, each additional registrant from the same institution qualifies for a $75 discount. To receive the discount, contact Connie Banks at cbanks@acenet.edu​ to arrange payment at the discounted rate.  

Payment and Cancellations 
Full payment must be received by June 17, 2018 to confirm participation in the program. ACE accepts the following payment options:
    • Credit Card - All major credit cards are accepted. Participants can pay during registration or by calling 202-939-9376 to have payment processed by phone.

 Scholarships Available

 

Limited partial scholarships are awarded to defray the cost of the program fee for those who would not otherwise be able to attend. You must complete and submit both program registration and scholarship application by May 13, 2018, to be considered. Applicants are advised to submit their program fee after scholarship awards have been announced on May 27, 2018.

These scholarships are to enable a select group of candidates from all sectors of higher education to participate in ACE’s signature leadership development programs. The Fidelity Investments scholarships are tied to ACE’s broader leadership development initiative designed to advance women and persons of color into the presidency and other leadership roles. Preference will be given to candidates from under- represented populations within higher education’s senior leadership ranks and to those candidates whose institutions lack the necessary resources to cover program attendance costs.

Access to Program Portal
Once payment is received, participants will receive access to ACE's Moodlerooms program portal - a site where workshop participants can meet each other and serve as a network of expertise. Each participant will also receive access to a digital program book containing information for program participants and presenters.

The following is the preliminary schedule for the convening. A more detailed agenda will be included in the digital program book participants will receive access to prior to the meeting

Participants are responsible for their hotel and travel expenses. The discounted rate for program attendees is $189/night and is valid 7 days before and 7 days after the program (based on availability). Please register for the department chair workshop prior to reserving a hotel room. For additional logistics details, including the reservation link, read the "Hotel and Travel" document (above).
