Second Learner Success Lab Cohort Reaches a New Milestone
March 28, 2022

The 2021-23 ACE Learner Success Laboratory (LSL) cohort gathered March 18 to learn about data collection best practices, check in on their lab progress, and network with peers for the second milestone meeting of their lab journey.

The hybrid format of this meeting, which brought together the cohort, lab advisers, and ACE staff, offered the first opportunity for cohort members to meet in person while accommodating those who preferred to attend virtually.

After in-person attendees arrived for coffee and networking, ACE President Ted Mitchell opened the meeting with a welcome message and introductions. Lindsey Myers, Learner Success Lab director, then presented data and analysis of the lab’s process, setting the stage for three breakout discussions: an LSL check-in, a discussion on specific hot topics, and an opportunity for attendees to network with peers doing similar work at different institutions.

One of the many highlights of the meeting came when Derrick Anderson, senior vice president, and Mushtaq Gunja, executive director, led a discussion on ACE’s new project on revamping the Carnegie Classification systemAdditionally, several attendees said they were inspired by an example of personalizing the ACE Model for Comprehensive Learner Success to their own institution’s unique character and priorities. The meeting wrapped up with closing remarks from Robin Helms, assistant vice president.

Institutions interested in developing their strategy for learner success are encouraged to apply for the 3rd cohort of the LSL, whose work will launch in September 2022 and will last about 18 months. Additionally, ACE will be hosting a virtual open house April 26, 1-2 pm ET for those who want to learn more about LSL or ACE’s other two Transformation Labs, the Internationalization Lab and Virtual Exchange/COIL Lab.
