To keep all the series’ conversations available, the recordings of the series’ first two webinars are now available on demand.

The series, Charting Opportunities and Challenges in Higher Education’s Climate Action Journey, is designed to help campus leaders, sustainability professionals, and climate advocates anticipate challenges and identify opportunities to lead amid rapidly evolving technologies, shifting federal and state climate policies, and other challenges

Featuring college presidents, sustainability leaders, and climate experts, the conversations explore how higher education can continue to advance climate action, equity, and innovation in a volatile policy environment.

Workforce development will take center stage in the upcoming webinar, Building the Climate Workforce: Higher Education’s Role in Equitable Green Jobs, scheduled for Jan. 29 from 2:00–3:00 p.m. ET.

The webinar will highlight workforce development models, partnerships with industry and labor, and innovative approaches colleges and universities are using to equip students with the skills needed to power the growing climate and clean energy sectors.

Confirmed speakers include Carla Grandy, senior advisor on climate and lead climate fellow at the California Community Colleges; Travis Proulx, vice president for external affairs at Fordham University; and Helena Robinson, director of sustainability and quality control at Xavier University of Louisiana.

Recordings Available for Opening Two Webinars

Recordings are now available for the first two webinars in the series.

The opening session, Looking Ahead: What’s Next for Campus Climate Leadership, explored recent federal policy shifts affecting sustainability, shared institutional perspectives, and set the stage for the broader series by examining emerging trends in campus climate leadership.

The second webinar, The Higher Education Clean Energy Projects Map: Lessons from 2021 Onwards, featured a deep dive into Second Nature’s Higher Education Clean Energy Projects Map, which showcases clean energy projects launched since 2021 that could have qualified for or used the Direct (Elective) Pay provision in the Inflation Reduction Act. The session also highlighted geothermal installations as a case study for scaling clean energy solutions and discussed how institutions navigated technical, financial, and policy challenges.
