Understanding the ACE Working Transcript

The American Council on Education (ACE) Working Transcript includes credit recommendations and competencies that learners have earned through workplace training, exams, certifications, and alternative educational experiences. They are designed to help colleges grant transfer credit for valid, college-level learning that happens outside of accredited colleges and universities.

The transcript includes:

  • The name of the course and provider
  • The ACE course number
  • Course description
  • Credit recommendation, including the number of semester hours, educational level, and subject area
  • Competencies that students master through the course

For additional information about course structure, grading standards, assessment, learning outcomes, and more, look up the provider and course in the ACE National Guide, or use the National Guide's Course/Examination Search.

Only courses that students have passed will be displayed on the ACE transcript. Beginning in October 2019, ACE transcripts will be hosted on Credly's Acclaim platform, and each course represented will also have a digital badge issued. Official transcripts will still be sent directly to recipient schools through a secure PDF download, but students may also download copies for themselves and share badges online. All badges and courses displayed on the ACE transcript have been verified by the course provider and represent a secure, official record of the learner's experiences and training.
