Simona Campbell

Chief Operating Officer

​​​​​​Simona Campbell serves as chief operating officer at the American Council on Education (ACE), where she guides the strategic and operational direction of ACE’s business functions. Her purview includes finance, human resources, and information technology, along with the administration and operations of ACE’s facilities at One Dupont Circle. She also provides executive oversight of One Dupont Ventures, ACE’s portfolio of entrepreneurial ventures, including Learning Evaluations and GED Testing Service®.

Campbell brings a unique blend of higher education and business leadership experience, with a consistent focus on expanding access to high-quality educational opportunities to students worldwide. Prior to joining ACE, she served as vice president of partnerships at Leap, a global mobility edtech firm supporting international student success. She played an integral role leading Leap’s organizational transformation and new revenue strategies, including the launch of two business units and the integration of corporate acquisitions.

Previously, she spent nearly a decade in various leadership roles at 2U. She served as general manager for multiple university partnerships, led the strategic implementation of the company’s international expansion, and oversaw the development and implementation of operational excellence measures across the organization. Earlier in her career, she was assistant dean of the MBA program at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business, where she led student support services and managed the implementation of a redesigned MBA core curriculum.

Campbell holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Stanford University and an MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.
