November 5: Faculty Insights on Military CPL

November 5, 2025
2:00–3:00 p.m. ET

Credit for prior learning is a powerful tool for recognizing the knowledge and skills military learners bring to higher education, helping institutions go beyond transfer credit to also support admissions decisions, prerequisite fulfillment, and course waivers that set learners up for success. But how do faculty balance academic rigor with access while applying CPL on campus?

In this 45-minute panel, faculty evaluators from diverse institutions and disciplines share their perspectives on how CPL works in practice. Panelists will explore how the American Council on Education’s evaluation process connects with institutional assessment, strategies to ensure quality while honoring flexibility, and ways to address common misconceptions among colleagues. They will also discuss how CPL positively impacts student progression, retention, and institutional outcomes when thoughtfully implemented.
