Registration Open for 2014 ACE Leadership Academy for Department Chairs Workshops

May 12, 2014

Registration is open for two 2014 ACE Leadership Academy for Department Chairs (LADC) workshops.

The workshops are scheduled for July 31-Aug. 1 in Cleveland, OH, and Oct. 22-23 in Itasca, IL, just outside Chicago. Each event focuses on cutting-edge higher education issues and topics of particular relevance to chairs.

This year’s LADC will include several new features, such as increased participant interaction and networking time, and will culminate in a leadership action plan that attendees will develop to summarize next steps they will take.

The workshops also will feature small group discussions exploring practical solutions for common challenges facing department chairs, from conflicts over hiring and tenure review to diversity-related questions and legal and ethical concerns.

Among the scheduled sessions for both workshops:

  • Politics and Interpersonal Conflict
  • Institutional Governance
  • Faculty Diversity: Recruitment and Retention

Previous workshops have filled up quickly, so those interested in participating are encouraged to register promptly.

LADC is open to division heads, program directors and unit leaders, in addition to department chairs.  For more information and to register, click here.
