Adult Learners

Lifelong Learning

If you are like 40 percent of the nation's 16 million college and university students, you are 25 years of age or older and juggle multiple responsibilities.  You may be one of the many younger adults with similar job and family roles.  Meanwhile, with constant shifts in workplace practices, occupations, and technologies, you find that lifelong learner is also one of your roles. You are motivated to learn something new, gain credentials, or earn a promotion—and realize your dreams—regardless of your age, educational background or job level.

Whether you need a high school credential or college credit for military training or workplace courses, the American Council on Education supports your efforts. ACE's programs and services help you gain access to and success in postsecondary education.

  • College Credit Recommendation Service
ACE's College Credit Recommendation Service (CREDIT) connects workplace learning with colleges and universities by helping adults gain access to academic credit for formal courses and examinations taken outside traditional degree programs.
  • Military Programs
ACE and the U.S. Department of Defense link servicemembers to college registrars, admissions officers, counselors, and DoD Voluntary Education professionals to help servicemembers access postsecondary education and complete their educational goals during and after military service.
  • Transcripts
Whether you're looking for credit for courses you took outside the classroom or scores that you earned on the GED tests, this page will send you in the right direction.
