A few spots remain for ACE’s Advancing to the Presidency workshop, slated for Oct. 20-21 in Itasca, IL, just west of Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport.
Advancing to the Presidency is designed specifically for senior administrators, typically dean level or above, who plan to seek a presidency within the next two years. ACE will select up to 40 applicants representing diverse backgrounds and from all types of institutions to attend the workshop.
The two-day event will focus on skills such as:
Developing an effective presidential search strategy
Practical training, including video-taped mock interviews and CV/resume critiques
Gaining a better understanding of the search process through candid conversations with search firm executives
Transitioning successfully into a presidency and presidential leadership
“The kind of free exchange that you have with other colleagues who are in the same boat allows you to relax a little bit and say, ‘I can do this, it’s really possible,’” said Mark Heckler, now president of Valparaiso University (IN). “So you come out of there with some very practical skills, but also just a much stronger sense of self and confidence.”
