March 20, 2013

With a new $22.5 million grant from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, the National Math and Science Initiative, in partnership with the UTeach Institute, is currently accepting proposals from research universities interested in implementing the UTeach Secondary STEM Teacher Preparation Program Model.

The UTeach Institute was established in response to national concerns about the quality of K-12 education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and growing interest in the innovative teacher preparation program started in 1997 at The University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin), UTeach.

Currently, 34 universities across the United States are implementing UTeach programs.
