NACUA to Hold Workshop on Higher Education Employment Law

​The National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA) will hold a 3-day workshop on higher education employment law April 9-11 in Boston for college and university counsels and other administrators who work with employment law and human resources.

The workshop will examine recent employment case law and regulations and provide practical strategies for addressing these issues on campus. Scheduled session topics include:

  • Faculty and staff with mental disabilities
  • Practical issues to consider when implementing the Affordable Care Act
  • Negotiating and drafting separation and settlement agreements
  • Freedom of speech in the workplace
  • Partner benefits after United States v. Windsor
  • Bullying and violence in the workplace
  • Employees in multiple states and overseas
  • Preparing for and responding to an EEOC investigation
  • Recent National Labor Relations Board rulings
  • Reflections on the 50th Anniversary of the Civil Rights Act

The program also will include discussion sessions, which will enable participants to exchange ideas, pose questions and share experiences and solutions with colleagues in a small-group setting.
