Special programming begins Saturday afternoon from 4:00-5:30 p.m., PST, with a pre-conference session on “Higher Education in the U.S. and Mexico: Strengthening Partnerships and Cooperation.” Panelists will discuss the two governments’ higher education collaboration and the risks and opportunities for institutions in both countries when partnering, and offer advice for colleges and universities that want to expand their work in this area.

The speakers at this session, to be moderated by Patti McGill Peterson, ACE presidential advisor for global initiatives, are:

  • Sergio Martinez de Castro Alcocer, Undersecretary for North American Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mexico
  • Enrique Fernandez Fassnacht, Secretary General, ANUIES
  • Fernando Leon Garcia, President, CETYS University
  • Diana Natalicio, President, The University of Texas at El Paso
  • Earl Anthony Wayne, Ambassador of the United States to Mexico

This pre-conference session is immediately followed by an international welcome reception from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Other items of interest to the international education community include a Monday session on “Global Engagement:  Presidential Leadership for Forging Strategic Partnerships,” and the Monday morning plenary, with details to be revealed soon.

Visit the Annual Meeting website for information on visiting the United States and program updates.
