New college and university presidents from all sectors of higher education are encouraged to apply now to join the 2014-15 class of the ACE Institute for New Presidents.

Designed specifically for presidents in their first two years of service, the Institute is a nine-month program consisting of three in-person meetings complemented by a series of webinars held during intervening months.

The initial session for the 2014-15 class will take place July 15-17, 2014, in Portland, OR. Other meeting dates are Dec. 2-4, 2014, in Nashville, TN, and March 13-14, 2015, during ACE’s 97th Annual Meeting in Washington, DC.

The program is highly participatory, incorporating interactive panels, case studies presented by program participants, conversations with peers from a range of institutions and briefings by national experts. Sessions are facilitated by experienced and highly successful presidents and other senior leaders and experts in the field.

Past sessions have focused on how best to handle the transition into a presidency and the all-important first year, including:

  • Governance: working effectively with your board
  • Building a high performing executive team
  • Leading in times of crisis
  • Working with the media
  • Launching a comprehensive campaign
  • Branding your institution
  • Effective use of legal counsel

ACE encourages presidents from all institutional types to apply. Click here for the online application.

The ACE Institute for New Presidents is supported by a generous contribution from Fidelity Investments.
