Professional Student Degree Act
| 1/14/2026 | The Professional Student Degree Act, H.R. 6718, would protect student access to highly skilled, in-demand professions that are critical to our economy. The Department of Education concluded in a negotiated rulemaking session that students would only be able to access an annual loan limit of $50,000 and an aggregate loan limit of $200,000 if they enrolled in one of just 11 professional degree programs. The list of 11 programs does not represent an accurate list of crucial and highly-skilled professions. This bill would include more programs under the definition of "professional degree programs" and ensure that students who are in need of aid to access and complete these programs can do so. |
