Summary

Internationalization leaders at U.S. institutions participated in a program designed to facilitate professional networking and collaboration with counterparts in the U.K. Jointly developed by ACE and Universities UK International, the 4-day program will brough a select U.S. delegation to the U.K. to:

  • Attend a semi-annual conference of Pro-Vice Chancellors (PVC) for International Affairs from approximately 40 U.K. institutions, organized by Universities UK. Special sessions focused on shared challenges for higher education internationalization in the U.S. and U.K., key challenges international education leaders face in their jobs, and opportunities to expand and enhance U.K.-U.S. institutional partnership.
  • Explore the U.K. higher education system in a changing political context through meetings with experts, including Universities U.K. staff, government representatives, and campus leaders.
  • Spend a day on a U.K. campus to learn how international activities are managed, exchange good practices, and discuss possible collaborations. Participants were to learn how international activities are managed, exchange good practices, and discuss possible collaborations. Participants were assigned to a campus based on mutual interests, similarity in institution type, and/or potential for institutional partnership development.
  • Create an on-going community of practice by engaging with U.K. and U.S. colleagues and ACE staff before, during, and after the program.  Virtual meetings complemented in-person activities. ACE staff provided information, resources, and support, and accompanied the delegation throughout the program
