ACE Office on National Engagement Launches Webinar Series
March 22, 2024

ACE’s Office on National Engagement will conduct a free webinar April 8 exploring “The Case for Engagement: Advancing Higher Education in our States and Jurisdictions.”

This will be the first installment of a National Engagement Webinar Series being launched by ACE. The webinars, which will be presented periodically, will focus on ways to inform and strengthen critical engagements between higher education and state governments, communities, and residents.

Each webinar will bring together a panel of experts to tell the stories of all the different ways higher education institutions show up in our home states and why growing those connections is critical to the future of postsecondary education.

The April 8 webinar will be hosted by ACE Senior Vice President Jon Fansmith and moderated by Heidi Tseu, ACE assistant vice president for National Engagement. Panel participants will be:

  • Katharine Meyer, a Fellow at the Brown Center on Education Policy at Brookings
  • Rashad Young, senior vice president and chief strategy officer at Howard University
  • Devorah Lieberman, president emerita of the University of La Verne and senior advisor to the ACE president
  • Jim Newberry, a member of Steptoe & Johnson PLLC and former mayor of Lexington, KY

The ACE Office on National Engagement was created in fall 2023 in response to an increasingly complicated environment for higher education, with a goal of influencing public debates on the role and value of postsecondary education.
