Insurance Educational Association (IEA) is a voluntary, nonprofit corporation organized for the purpose of meeting the needs of people in the educational fields of Risk Management and Insurance.IEA provides students with the preparation necessary for professional certification for careers in insurance, risk management, and employee benefits. In addition, it provides continuing education for persons employed in these industries.Courses may lead to preparation for national examinations offered by the American Institute for Property and Liability Underwriters/Insurance Institute of America. Students successfully completing national examinations in these programs may apply to these organizations, which are listed elsewhere in this
National Guide, to receive appropriate academic credit recommendations. To be eligible for credit, students should have received at least a C grade.IEA offers other specialized, technical classes that may apply toward the IEA's certificate programs. These include Commercial Multiple Line Insurance and Workers' Compensation Claims.IEA offers a professional designation in claims. IEA confers the Workers' Compensation Claims Professional (WCCP) designation to students completing eight college-level courses, which includes CA-10 through CA-14, CA15, CA-17, and CA-20; these are listed in the American Council on Education's National Guide.
The IEA offers a professional designation program in disability management. The Certified Professional in Disability Management (CPDM) is conferred following the completion of three college-level courses--CPDM 1, Essentials of Disability Management; CPDM 2, Disability Case Management -- The Medial and Administrative Components; and CPDM 3, Disability Management-Implementation. The CPCM courses are also listed in the ACE guidebook.
