IGT, Inc., located in Chicago, Illinois, on the campus of the Illinois Institute of Technology, has worldwide operations in technical and management consulting and manpower training in the energy industry. IGT is strongly committed to the planned development of indigenous energy resources in developing nations. A recent effort in this connection is IGT's work with the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) in its Career Development Center. This project began as a pilot program for training operators and technicians for a chlor-alkali plant and has expanded into two-year programs in petroleum and chemical-process technology and business training. The petroleum technology programs include training in mechanical technology, instrument technology, and process plant operations for both petroleum refineries and gas liquefaction plants. Parallel to this program for full-time students is an in-service program for ADNOC employees, who may choose to attend petroleum technology, secretarial, or English language classes on a part-time basis. In addition to designing curriculum and providing management and training staff, IGT was instrumental in providing architectural services for the refurbishment of the present training facility and the design of a greatly expanded future facility on the same premises.
