The course objective is to provide the skills and knowledge to identify the most common hazards associated with general industry workplaces, locate applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and requirements, and suggest abatement methods for these hazards and violations of the standards.The Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry (OSHA #511) course covers OSHA Standards, policies, and procedures in general industry. Topics include scope and application of the OSHA General Industry Standards, general safety and health principles, and special emphasis on those areas in construction which are most hazardous. Participants will define construction terms found in the OSHA Construction Standards, identify hazards which occur in the construction industry, locate and determine appropriate OSHA Construction Standards, policies, and procedures, and describe the use of the OSHA Construction Standards and regulations to supplement anongoing safety and health program.
