Statement by ACE President Molly Corbett Broad on Fiscal Year 2017 Budget Agreement
May 01, 2017

"The budget agreement released today demonstrates strong, bipartisan support for the students and families our colleges and universities serve, and for the advancement of medical and scientific research. We applaud congressional leaders for their clear commitment to these important priorities.

Restoring access to year-round Pell Grants will help hundreds of thousands of low-income students more quickly earn a college degree and enter the workforce prepared to compete in today’s global economy. Boosting funding for the National Institutes of Health by $2 billion will strengthen the ability of our institutions to perform the valuable, cutting-edge research that generates life-saving cures and countless other medical and scientific innovations that improve the lives of millions of Americans.

There is no better investment in our country’s future prosperity than expanding federal student aid and research funding and we look forward to the swift enactment of this measure."
