Program Description
CUNY ASAP students are paired with an academic advisor from entry to graduation. They enroll full time through block schedules (i.e., morning, afternoon, or evening time frames), allowing them to plan around work and personal commitments. Blocks also organize students into cohorts, which increases the sense of community among ASAP students. CUNY ASAP supplements academic structure with financial assistance, such as tuition and fee gap scholarships, textbook assistance, and MetroCards to cover transportation costs.
CUNY ASAP has undergone
rigorous evaluation
,
garnered national recognition
, and been
replicated across five states
. Overall, ASAP students have graduated within three years at more than double the rates of non-ASAP students. The most recent average three-year graduation rate across 10 CUNY ASAP cohorts is 52 percent. Building on this success, in 2015, CUNY launched
Accelerate, Complete, Engage (ACE)
, an adaptation of the ASAP model that supports baccalaureate students. Like ASAP, ACE has demonstrated unprecedented results with a four-year graduation rate of 16 percentage points higher than the comparison group. Outcomes and information on ASAP|ACE comprehensive program supports, replication, and expansion are available on the
CUNY ASAP website
.
