Place U.S. Higher Ed in a Global Context at ACE2020
February 10, 2020

ACE2020, ACE’s 102nd Annual Meeting, will engage with the topics of internationalization and global engagement through a number of internationally-focused sessions and receptions as well as welcoming attendees from around the world, including a delegation from Mexico sponsored by Banco Santander.

One of the first public events of the meeting will be the International Welcome and Network Reception, taking place the evening of Saturday, March 14. The reception is sponsored by the International Association of University Presidents. Attendees will have the opportunity to mingle and get to know other colleagues interested in international education. This event is open to all meeting registrants.

On Monday, there will be two concurrent sessions addressing topics of importance to campus leaders operating in an increasingly globalized world. In the first, “University Research and National Security: A Global Challenge,” higher education leaders from four countries will discuss the critical question of how to balance the need for openness and global engagement with maintaining the integrity of research, including peer review, protection of intellectual property, and protecting institutions from foreign interference.

Following that, attend the session “The Shifting Regulatory Landscape for International Students and How Institutions are Responding” for trends in international student enrollment, the outlook for policy and legislation regarding international students, and a discussion regarding the findings of recent surveys and reports, including the preliminary results of a survey of public attitudes towards international students. This session is sponsored by Navitas.

ACE2020 is the country's most distinguished higher education event, attracting more than 1,500 leaders from presidents to deans. Attendees will gain knowledge about practical solutions for many of the challenges higher education faces today, network with leaders from across all institutional types, and be inspired by the achievements of colleagues and the insights of a diverse slate of speakers.
