Description

Objective:

The course objective is to provide the understanding necessary to design and operate moderate-scale reinforcement systems. The objective of Level II is to provide an understanding of sound system interconnection, test equipment, and electronics, and explore the data structure of MIDI and sound synchronization.

Learning Outcomes:

  • define what a sound is, how sound is measured using dynamic range and identify the impact that the environment has on sound systems
  • interpret specification which provides insight into the quality of design and construction
  • explore microphones, loudspeakers, and mixers and identify sound system interconnection, test equipment, and electronics
  • explain the function of a crossover and the different types of crossover networks
  • describe various types of equalizers and their applications
  • describe how compressor/limiters, noise gates, and expanders work
  • properly connect balanced equipment to unbalanced equipment
  • explain how a sine wave oscillator is used to test sound equipment
  • explain the various pulse methods used for synchronization.
