Description

Objective:

Upon the successful completion of the course, the student will be able to collect configuration information about a computer using system commands; identify and describe the function of the physical components of a computer system; explain how to install a PSU, RAM, optical drive, and HDD/SSD; create a model for how to build a computer piece by piece, the direction in which the component faces and how it is secured; execute a complete machine disassembly and rebuild, and provide Helpdesk support to customers by proposing troubleshooting solutions to common computer hardware problems.

  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot motherboards, disk drives, expansion cards, ports, and other peripherals in a personal computer
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot the most common hardware and software issues using a troubleshooting methodology in a personal computer and/or IT industry-standard office program suite
  • Identify and apply appropriate customer service strategies that foster and promote customer satisfaction
  • Navigate an industry-standard ticketing system (i.e. Zendesk) while learning to track customer problems
