Description

Objective:

The course objective is to apply Excel functions to accounting scenarios and manipulate datasets to solve problems; conduct what-if analysis and make projections for a market by evaluating its portfolio value; analyze a client's budget and goals and present the client with an informed recommendation on capabilities and limitations; produce effective pivot tables to report financial data to decision makers; and organize and manage a database by creating macros to provide conceptual context and meaning. This course will prepare students for the Excel MOS certification

Learning Outcomes:

  • demonstrate how to save and export workbooks into various formats
  • interpret and organize complex and multi-sheet datasets
  • employ formatting, filtering, and grouping of complex data to provide conceptual context and meaning
  • demonstrate the application of logical, statistical, financial, and date functions to data
  • employ a lookup reference function such as VLOOKUP and HLOOKUP to connect/match data based on conditions
  • employ the What-If analysis tool to analyze data and determine outcomes based on set conditions in Excel
  • practice financial functions such as PMT and FV to analyze investment data in Excel
  • apply and modify basic pivot charts and tables
  • record basic Excel macros to automate sequences
