Objective:

The course objective is to enable students to focus on branding strategies for the produce industry and how the entire industry has changed due to the demands of the more health conscious individual. We will explore Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs), organic foods, the demand for locally grown food and the effects on branding strategy.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Discuss branding for tradition produce markets versus the organic produce markets
  • Describe the role of food labeling, Genetically Modified Organisms and obstacles for branding strategy
  • Examine the role of Genetically Modified Organisms and organic foods on branding strategy
  • Discuss how the demand for locally grown foods has changed branding strategy for the produce industry
